Starting at 85th Street marching along 3rd Avenue, turning up 75th to 5th Avenue and ending at the grandstand on 67th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Location:  By the park house

From 10 am to 12 noon, explore Viking Village.  Kids can participate in an educational Scavenger Hunt, as they explore displays/demos by 2 reenactment organizations The popular LEVS half size replica Viking ship and crew will be in full force.

At 12 noon the performance component of our event begins, Touched By the Vikings. There are musical and dance performances from cultures that had a connection to the Vikings, as well as Scandinavian and local artists.  Performers this year include: Ellen Lindstrom on accordion, Clann Eireann Pipers, Arabella Middle Eastern Dancer and Young Dancers in Repertory.  

Games for children, Scandinavian fare and Scandinavian crafts and demos.  This event is organized by the Scandinavian East Coast Museum in partnership with: Senator Gounardes, Apple Bank, The Friends of Owl’s Head Park, and the Bay Ridge Baptist Church.

It's My Park Day at Owl's Head Park, Sunday, May 3, 2026

The Owl's Head Park Volunteers will be holding an It’s My Park Day, open to volunteers of all of ages, on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 10am to 12 noon.  Weather permitting volunteers to be outdoors without an umbrella.  Our tables will be set up by the park house.  Volunteers will be spreading mulch around trees and holes on the lawns.  Tools and gloves will be provided.

Our group will be removing weeds from the back forest behind the skate park and along the bike path/greenway connector.  Tools and gloves will be provided.


This event is weather permitting.  If volunteers need an umbrella, we will be canceling and holding this activity for another It's My Park day.

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens's Greenest Block Contest 2026

 


All Brooklyn community gardens are invited to join the Community Garden Alliance. The Alliance's focus is on promoting sustainable gardening practices to support healthy communities of people, plants, and wildlife. It facilitates skill sharing between gardens through workshops and seasonal gatherings and offers an avenue for communication and learning, where personal connections are forged and technical horticultural assistance may be obtained. There is no cost to participate.
